Years 7 - 12 alumni event
We were thrilled to welcome back to the school, alumni of the school currently in Years 7-12. Chrissy Gamble, Principal, and Philip Powell, Chair of the Alumni Steering Committee, welcomed everyone before they all enjoyed a tour of the new building and reminiscing about their time at the school.
It’s a real joy meeting alumni and hearing the fond memories of their time at the school. It was great to see many current Year 8s and especially good to see Year 12 students, as the musical in 2006 was Beauty and the Beast Jr, the same one being presented by our Years 5 and 6 students this week! They were happy to pose in front of the set for this year's production.
We also wish all Year 12s our very best wishes with their forthcoming exams.
Years 7-12 alumni event
Last Saturday, we were very pleased to welcome back to Christ Church Grammar School, 70 secondary school alumni. They were so pleased to be back – especially the Year 7 students (last year’s Year 6s) who had not seen the new building finished – and it was just great to see so many young alumni, and also some families, support this inaugural event.
It’s clear that our alumni and many former parents want to reconnect with the school and it’s a real joy meeting them and hearing the fond memories of their time at the school.
Chrissy Gamble, Principal, and Philip Powell, Chair of the Alumni Steering Committee, welcomed everyone before they all had a tour of the new building. This was followed by the most important part of the event, catching up with their former classmates!
Our new building is opened
Christ Church Grammar School was honoured to welcome Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AC, Governor of Victoria to open the new building on Wednesday 6 June. The building was dedicated by The Most Reverend Dr Philip Freier, Archbishop of Melbourne and Primate.
The Governor spoke of the longstanding connection between Christ Church South Yarra and Government House. She also talked about the lovely story of the first girl to be enrolled at Christ Church Grammar, Clarice Lindsay, in the early 1920s.

The Chair of the School Board, Paul Sheahan AM, also announced that the new Resource Centre would be known as the Beryl Gregory Resource Centre, to recognise the contribution of Beryl Gregory OAM, Headmistress of Christ Church Grammar School from 1996-2010.
It was a wonderful occasion - perfect weather, inspiring speeches and beautiful music!
Areyonga Cultural Exchange
Red Dust Role Models have worked with Christ Church Grammar School for several years to facilitate better understanding of Indigenous culture and heritage and they assist the school in taking Year 6 students to the Areyonga community in the Northern Territory for a week in the Term 3 holidays. This program is a real highlight for the Year 6 students and their families each year.
These photos were taken at Areyonga during the visit in September 2017.
