Established in 1898, Christ Church Grammar School is Melbourne’s leading, inner city, independent school, providing outstanding education for boys and girls, aged 3 - 12 years old.

About Us

We aspire to be the leading coeducational school for children through to Year 6 by embracing explicit, evidence-based learning; enabling every child to be their best; ensuring our children learn in an environment grounded by love and faith; and by fostering caring, supportive and enduring relationships with children, families and the community. We welcome families, not just students. Diversity is celebrated and children, their families and staff are cherished and valued. We develop and nurture trusting relationships based on respect and honesty.

We are an inclusive community and treasure the unique spirit of each and every child. Quality teaching and learning, high expectations and supportive relationships encourage our young children to develop in character and to aspire to be their very best.

Our high-quality curriculum ensures that our teaching and learning program is both rigorous and enjoyable. We challenge our students to achieve their very best and have small class sizes to maximise student/teacher engagement.

From Prep onwards, specialist teachers work with our children in a range of areas including the arts, music, languages and physical education.

We also offer a comprehensive co-curricular program that caters for diverse interests such as Latin, French, chess, computer coding, homework club, karate, gymnastics and drama.

We are proud of our connection with Christ Church South Yarra and are the only coeducational Anglican parish school in Victoria for 3 - 12 year olds. We embed the Anglican faith and ethos into our daily practice, welcoming those of all faiths and none.

At Christ Church Grammar School we know that children learn best when their individual needs are identified and addressed in a nurturing, supportive and encouraging environment with positive role models.

We understand the importance of connections within the broader community and value our community partnerships with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation and the 2/14th Australian Field Regiment through the Adopt An Ex-Service Organisation Program, administered by the Shrine of Remembrance

At Christ Church Grammar School, we are committed towards the full intellectual, physical, social, moral and spiritual development of each child entrusted into our care. We warmly invite you and your family to visit us on our Open Days to see our school for yourself, meet our teachers and students and learn about the way in which we specialise in the formative years of education. You are invited to tour the school campus and experience first-hand the rich, challenging, diverse and curriculum we offer that creates a lifelong love of learning.

Our Campus

Situated in the inner city suburb of South Yarra and minutes from Melbourne's CBD, our school operates across three distinct settings linked by a pathway through Fawkner Park.

The Cottage houses our 3 and 4 Year Old Kindergarten and is located in Park Place.  The Kindergarten has four main rooms and a dedicated outdoor play area that is reminiscent of a family backyard and garden.

Our Prep and Year 1 classes are held in a beautiful heritage building in Parkside that provides a comforting and homely environment for the first two years of formal schooling. Parkside has its own outdoor play area and is also located in Park Place, a few minutes walk through Fawkner Park from our Main Campus.

The Main Campus is located on the corner of Punt and Toorak Roads and caters for children from Years 2-6. The music and art departments are also located there, together with the Beryl Gregory Resource Centre and the school's administration team.

The children move comfortably between these learning spaces with many of our specialist classes taking place at the Main Campus. Students from Prep to Year 6 also have access to designated areas in Fawkner Park during recess and lunchtime and for sport classes.
